The experience I gained at the bio-academy was one of a kind. Professor Libermann's lecture on precision medicine and the future of healthcare was very inspiring. The various diagrams and images he showed gave me a better understanding of what biotechnology is. The concept of precision medicine for me feels like an utopian idea. Creating a medical plan that best provides for the patient and being able to predict one's future health is something that I imagined when I was little. But now, learning that it is possible, it made me confirm once again that biotechnology is the path I want to push through. Furthermore, the various jobs and experts of other fields of science made me realize the amount of time and work that goes into creating a result. Not only that, Professor Libermann's example for precision medicine on Cancer gave me a better understanding on how precision medicine will look like clinically. The second lecture from Professor Lee Min Seob also gave me a better understanding of precision medicine. His fun way of explaining the field of biotechnology made it easier to understand. 

After a great lunch, I got to visit Thermo Fisher. I got introduced to a variety of equipment and machines that go into making a medicine or vaccine. What really surprised me was the prices of these machines. With that, I learned why many people around the world are unable to receive vaccines. I want to become someone that will be able to revolutionize the prices of vaccines and machines so that people who are in need could get the healthcare they need. Furthermore, by answering the various questions they asked, I was able to further solidify the knowledge I learned. After the tour, I visited Inha University. The lecture was about how biotechnology could save the environment. Through that, I realized that biotechnology is a major that could save life overall. Biotechnology is something that encompasses people, environment, etc. The second lecture I took there was about the use of spiderweb. I was intrigued by the fact that the characteristics substances such as spiderwebs are determined by proteins and the amino acids that make them up. After that I was able to perform a number of different experiments.

In conclusion, the experiences I had at the bio-academy is something I will not be able to have at other places. The quality of lectures and tours made me very thankful.
